You will be able to admire the 88 works created by the students who participated in the Art & Science across Italy project and some works from CERN's art collection.
From black holes to climate change studies, from chemical to magnetic phenomena, international artists and Ligurian students will meet in this exhibition to tell the story of science through art.
TOPOSCHOOL 2022, a School for Ph.D. students and young researchers on topological matter organized within the MIUR 'Dipartimento di Eccellenza' project, is taking place from 27/03 to 01/04, in presence!
More than 50 participants will benefit from lectures given by 8 speakers from Europe and the US in the charming Santa Margherita Ligure.
As part of the "Spazio per Tutti" series of popular science events, on Friday 18 February at 9 p.m. on the YouTube channels of the Associazione Ligure Astrofili Polaris and the Gruppo Astrofili Savonesi there will be a conference entitled "Occhi Gamma delle Canarie" (Gamma Eyes of the Canary Islands) with Chiara Righi of the INAF - Osservatorio Astronomico di Brera.
11 February is the International Day of Women and Girls in Science.
Although there are encouraging signs of progress, women are still underrepresented at all levels in science, technology, engineering and physics around the world. However, gender equality is not just a matter of fairness: when bright girls stray from scientific careers because of obstacles that are too great, it is a loss for society as a whole.

The exhibition "The Invisible" by Enrico Sacchetti, an award-winning international photographer specialising in scientific and industrial photography, consists of 30 spectacular images that highlight the complexity, but also the aesthetics, of the scientific equipment found in the world's major research centres. Photographs of detectors and accelerators for the study of particles and gravitational waves, but also of telescopes and radio telescopes for the exploration of the universe, aiming to bring the public closer to these majestic man-made constructions.
For the first time, it has been possible to measure directly at the energies at which stars operate the rate of the reaction that produces most of the neutrons responsible for the formation of all the elements heavier than iron. This opens up a new phase in our understanding of the complex mechanisms that, from the centre of the stars, produce the chemical elements that surround us and make up our world.
The Nobel Prize in Physics 2021 was awarded "for groundbreaking contributions to our understanding of complex systems" with one half jointly to Syukuro Manabe and Klaus Hasselmann "for the physical modelling of Earth's climate, quantifying variability and reliably predicting global warming" and the other half to Giorgio Parisi "for the discovery of the interplay of disorder and fluctuations in physical systems from atomic to planetary scales."
Dr Edoardo D'Angelo, Physics student and PhD student at the Department of Mathematics, won the Stanev Prize 2021 as author of the master thesis "Relative entropy from coherent states in Black Hole Thermodynamics and Cosmology".

For most of their existence, stars are fuelled by the fusion of hydrogen into helium. Fusion proceeds via two processes that are well understood theoretically since the year 1930: the proton–proton (pp) chain and the carbon–nitrogen–oxygen (CNO) cycle. Neutrinos are emitted along such fusion processes and their spectra are the signature of each reaction. The detection of solar neutrinos allows the study of the nuclear fusion processes.
