Vector bosons V, such as the Z- or W-bosons, are abundantly produced at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN. Their decays into leptons provide a clear experimental signature, making it possible to identify specific scattering events. Events where these bosons are produced in association with hadronic jets are of particular significance. For example, V+jet events serve as background for many new physics searches, so a precise description of these events in terms of perturbative quantum chromodynamics (QCD) is crucial to match the high accuracy of experimental measurements. Furthermore, events where the flavour quantum number of the jet is identified provide unique insights into the quark content of the colliding protons. In this talk, after a thorough introduction to precise LHC phenomenology, I will focus on two key aspects of theoretical predictions for the V+jet processes. First, I will present the calculation of the next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO) QCD corrections for Z+c-jet and W+c-jet events. Then, I will discuss the progresses made towards matching NNLO fixed-order predictions to parton showers for Z+jet events. In the last part of the talk, I will outline the steps needed to achieve next-to-next-to-next-to-leading order (N3LO) accuracy for V+jet processes.
